Physical Therapy
As doctors of physical therapy, we specialize in many different types off orthopedic conditions. We use a combination of hands-on manual techniques and movement techniques. We are highly trained to be movement diagnosticians; people rarely realize how important this is to their condition, even beyond their medical diagnosis.
We focus on treating the whole body, and not just where the pain is because often there are multiple body parts and factors leading to pain in an area. This is a key in creating a complete plan of care to help you with your recovery. A stiff ankle can cause knee pain. A weak shoulder can cause neck pain. Hip issues can lead to low back pain. All of these need to be checked and addressed to get a more complete picture of why you're having the pain you're experiencing.
If your goal is to avoid injections, surgery, and pain medication at all costs, we're here for you.Â
Novel Stimulus Reset System
After years of clinical practice and numerous continuing education courses, we found a system of treatments that help nearly 80% of people with long-term pain. Although the entire system and techniques can't be explained through a small paragraph, the basis of it involves resetting the nervous system and introducing a novel stimulus to quickly alleviate pain. These techniques are simple and can be taught to be performed quickly at home to help reset your pain and get back to what you want to do.
Myofascial Release
Myofascial release is a type of manual therapy that aims to release tension and tightness in the myofascial tissues of the body. Myofascial tissues are thin, strong, and flexible sheets of connective tissue that surround and support muscles, bones, and organs throughout the body.
Durrng myofascial release, a therapist uses hands-on techniques to apply pressure and stretch the myofascial tissues in order to relieve pain, reduce inflammation, and restore range of motion. This can involve applying sustained pressure to specific points, using stretching techniques, or applying gentle traction to the affected area.
Myofascial release can be helpful for a range of conditions, including chronic pain, sports injuries, and postural imbalances. It is often used in conjunction with other types of therapy.
Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilization
Instrument-Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilization (IASTM) is a type of manual therapy that involves the use of specialized instruments to diagnose and treat soft tissue injuries and restrictions. The instruments used in IASTM are typically made of stainless steel and have various shapes and edges that can be used to target specific areas of the body.
During an IASTM session, the therapist applies the instrument to the skin and uses a variety of strokes to mobilize the soft tissue. The strokes can include scraping, rubbing, and lifting motions, and are designed to break up scar tissue, adhesions, and other restrictions in the soft tissue.
IASTM is often used to treat a variety of conditions, including tendonitis, fasciitis, and other soft tissue injuries. It promotes healing by increasing blood flow to the affected area, breaking up scar tissue and adhesions, and improving the flexibility and mobility of the soft tissue.
